Ever noticed the look on people’s faces as you walk past the ‘Barbers’ in shopping centres? What do you reckon is going through their heads? Do you think that they are thinking they might end up like this
or like this
These ‘Barbers’ are a gold mine on the last week of any school holidays. Frustrated Mums lining up their Little Johnnys to get their ‘back to school cuts’. They go in looking sullen, come out the same way, with the same cut for only $875.96 – bargain and a lollipop.
I know growing up Dawn gave us some pretty horrid cuts – yes Dawn I can hear you saying ‘it was the fashion’ – ah no I don’t think it was.
After sending Moomoo and Monkeyboy to a few different ‘Barbers’ in their younger years and coming out with the ‘generic cut’ I have decided they can do what they want with their hair. Mr Cruisey doesn’t mind – hell he had the same style which could be called ‘Lazy Long Unbrushed Unkempt Yet Sexy (as described by Mr Cruisey himself) translation – ‘too lazy to get a cut so puts up with split ends for well forever’ only recently deciding that a bit of manscaping was in order – now there’s no stopping him – he wants product the works! (Midlife???)
Anyway, back to where I was. So I have taken the boys to these Barbers a few times when they were younger. Now Moomoo has got some funky stuff going on with his head. He’s got a double crown, ducks bum, cow lick – look – Harry Potter ain’t got nothing on this kid. So every time he would get a ‘Barber’ cut, it would last for about 1.2 weeks and then start growing back in every direction that was impossible to tame. His hair is like mine, thick and fast growing. Monkeyboys hair is like Mr Cruisey’s – doesn’t grow super quick but doesn’t really have a style yet.
Moomoo has decided long hair is for him – yes, it is kinda Justin you know who ish – although say that to Moomoo and you will get the death stare, and that’s cool. Like I said, he has a funky head so long hair is good for him. Monkeyboy wants a style like one of those boys out of that band that Moomoo says ‘No-one should like’ – they have a One in their band name. The kid’s hair is really cool so I’m happy to go with that.
Anywho, the moral of the story is this. Shopping centre ‘Barbers’ are good at what they do, I have just decided though, that Moomoo and Monkeyboy should be able to do what they want with their hair – yeah within reason, but go for it dudes, be individuals.
(Incidentally I didn’t know how funky Moomoo’s head was until I actually took him to a Hair Salon.)
